"Estamos trabajando en valiosas reediciones con mucho material extra"
Las leyendas alemanas Rage lanzarán el EP 'Spreading the Plague' el 30 de septiembre bajo el prestigioso sello discográfico Steamhammer/SPV. Made in Metal charla brevemente con Peter "Peavy" Wagner, líder, vocalista y bajista de la banda, para conocer los detalles de este nuevo álbum.
MiM: Hola Peavy, 'Spreading the Plague' (Steamhammer/SPV, 2022) es un excelente regalo para todos los fans de la banda. Los tres primeros temas suenan rápidos, con guitarras cortantes, solos de guitarra espectaculares, bajo y batería contundentes que, junto a su voz, hacen que estas canciones destrocen el cerebro de todos los fans. ¿De qué tratan las letras de estas tres primeras canciones?
P: “To live and to die” se inspiró en la muerte repentina de un amigo mío, “Spreading the Plague” trata sobre cómo destruimos nuestro planeta y “The King Has Lost his Crown” trata sobre políticos corruptos.
MiM: "To Live And To Die", "Spreading The Plague" y "The King Has Lost His Crown" se sienten como una parte inseparable de "Resurrection Day". ¿Por qué la decisión de no incluirlos en el álbum?
P: Esto se decidió antes de que entráramos al estudio. Escogimos esas tres canciones para usarlas en este EP, que ya estaba planeado para este año.
MiM: ¡“A New Land” (versión acústica) es espectacular! Sonido limpio e impecable. ¿Creéis que en un futuro los fans de la banda podrán disfrutar de un disco acústico de Rage?
P: Tal vez, pero no tenemos planes para un álbum como este.
MiM: "The Price Of War" es la canción más pesada del EP, su voz es más áspera, gutural y agresiva. ¿Qué me puedes decir al respecto?
P: Es una nueva versión de nuestra canción de 1995, la versión original está en "Black in Mind". Nos encanta la canción y la tuvimos en nuestro primer set en vivo, cuando empezamos a tocar con Stefan y Jean. Fue grabado para presentarles a los chicos a nuestros fans.
MiM: Este año marca el 30 aniversario del lanzamiento del séptimo álbum de Rage, "Trapped!" (Noise International, 1992). ¿Tienes alguna edición especial en mente para celebrarlo?
P: Sí, estamos trabajando en valiosas reediciones de “Trapped” y también de “Missing Link” con mucho material extra tanto para CD como para vinilo.
MiM: ¿Cómo ves la posición de Rage en la escena actual?
P: Somos una banda establecida desde hace mucho tiempo a nivel internacional. ¡Gracias a nuestros verdaderos fans en todas partes!
MiM: Si tuvieras que juzgar críticamente la trayectoria de la banda, ¿qué les dirías a nuestros lectores?
P: Rage está en su mejor forma. ¡Estén atentos para nosotros!
MiM: ¿Qué planes tienes para promocionar este álbum?
P: Ya tocamos en muchos festivales durante el verano. En Octubre/Noviembre tocaremos en un Co-Headlining Europe Tour junto con nuestros compañeros de Brainstorm. Habrá más actividad aún por venir.

German legends Rage will be releasing the EP 'Spreading the Plague' on September 30th under the prestigious Steamhammer/SPV record label. Made in Metal briefly chats with Peter "Peavy" Wagner, leader, vocalist, and bassist of the band to find out the details of this new album.
MiM: Hello Peavy, 'Spreading the Plague' (Steamhammer/SPV, 2022) is an excellent gift for all fans of the band. The first three songs sound fast, with cutting guitars, spectacular guitar solos, strong bass and drums that, together with his voice, make these songs destroy the brains of all fans. What are the lyrics of these first three songs about?
P: “To live and to die” was inspired by the sudden death of a friend of mine, “Spreading the Plague” is about how we destroy our planet, and “The King Has Lost his Crown” is about corrupt politicians.
MiM: "To Live And To Die", "Spreading The Plague" and "The King Has Lost His Crown" feel like an inseparable part of "Resurrection Day". Why the decision not to include them on the album?
P: This was decided before we entered the studio. We picked out those three songs to use for this EP, which was already planned for this year.
MiM: “A New Land” (acoustic version) is spectacular! Clean and impeccable sound. Do you think that in the future the fans of the band could enjoy an acoustic Rage album?
P: Maybe, but we have no plans for an album like this.
MiM: "The Price Of War" is the heaviest song on the EP, his voice is rougher, guttural, and aggressive. What can you tell me about it?
P: It's a remake of our song from 1995, the Original Version is on “Black in Mind”. We love the song and had it in our first live set when we started playing with Stefan & Jean. It was recorded to introduce the guys to our fans.
MiM: This year marks the 30th anniversary of Rage's seventh album "Trapped!" (Noise International, 1992). Do you have any particular edition in mind to celebrate?
P: Yes, we are working on valuable re-releases for “Trapped” and also “Missing Link” with lots of Bonus Material both for CD and Vinyl.
MiM: How do you see Rage's position in the current scene?
P: We are a long-time established band internationally. Thanks to our true Fans everywhere!
MiM: If you were to critically judge the trajectory of the band, what would you say to our readers?
P: Rage is in the best shape ever. Stay tuned for us!
MiM: What plans do you have to promote this album? Concerts or tours scheduled this year?
P: We play already many Festivals over the summer. In October/ November we will play a Co-Headlining Europe Tour together with our mates from Brainstorm. More touring activity to come.
