“Todos los cultos y misterios religiosos no son más que mentiras y absurdos execrables”
El poderoso dúo de Rock 'n' Roll The Devils, originario de Nápoles, Italia, lanzó su nuevo álbum “Let the World Burn Down” el pasado 9 de febrero bajo el sello discográfico Go Down Records. Made in Metal habla con Gianni Blacula para saber todo sobre este lanzamiento.
MiM: ¿Cuáles fueron los inicios de la banda? ¿Cómo surgió la idea de crear la banda y cuál es el concepto detrás del nombre de la banda?
TD: The Devils tienen casi diez años. El caos parecía saber hasta qué punto nos unía, cuán fuerte era nuestro odio mutuo hacia las personas y la sociedad. Igualmente vital e indispensable para nuestra supervivencia era nuestro amor por la buena música y el maldito rock 'n roll. Después de dejar nuestros miserables trabajos, decidimos crear The Devils como nuestra razón para vivir y ganar dinero. Durante la grabación de nuestra primera demostración, vimos la película de Ken Russel de 1971, “The Devils”, que se alineaba perfectamente con nuestras ideas sobre la miseria de la humanidad y lo absurdo de la religión. La película retrata estos conceptos de una manera magistral e inigualable. Por eso elegimos el nombre de la película como amuleto de buena suerte en nuestra batalla contra la raza humana. El diablo no tiene nada que ver con eso. Esta es otra tontería inventada por los patrones para mantener a la gente agarrada de pelotas. El miedo es el verdadero dios, porque la gente no quiere morir nunca (covid). Así que detrás del nombre de la banda no hay ningún concepto poético o incluso satanista. La naturaleza y la materia nos han hablado lo suficiente como para concluir que todos los cultos y misterios religiosos no son más que mentiras y absurdos execrables. Solo hay un mundo, y este es falso, cruel, contradictorio, seductor, sin sentido; ese mundo es el mundo verdadero. Necesitamos la mentira para vencer esta realidad, esta “verdad”, es decir, para vivir.
MiM: “Let the World Burn Down” (Go Down Records, 2024) presenta un sonido sucio, áspero y áspero. Cerca de garaje y ruido con base de grunge medio. ¿Es eso así? ¿Cómo lo ves?
TD: Este nuevo álbum es un reflejo de nosotros mismos y de nuestra diversa gama de influencias de los últimos años, incluidas películas, literatura, experiencias de la vida real y música. MiM: ¿Cómo es el proceso creativo a la hora de componer material nuevo? ¿Es un proceso colaborativo entre todos o recae en una o dos personas?
TD: Normalmente, colaboramos en todo, pero Erika toma la decisión final debido a su talento para seleccionar cosas interesantes. Como mencioné anteriormente, nuestro nuevo álbum presenta principalmente riffs y melodías inspiradas en viejos discos de blues o soul. Hemos mejorado nuestra capacidad para replicar estos sonidos con precisión y hemos dejado de lado cualquier noción de ego o esa tontería sobre la creatividad artística. Apoyamos la tesis del arte solo como un crimen y del artista como un criminal. El arte es subversión y la civilización es represión. Somos dos criminales incivilizados del rock n' roll. Quizás queden los dos últimos.
MiM: El trabajo de producción, mezcla y masterización es impecable. ¿En qué estudio de grabación se realizó la grabación del disco?
TD: Nuestro sello nos presentó Mal De Testa Recording Studio, un hermoso estudio cerca de Padua, Italia, donde produjimos el álbum. Sin embargo, fue el trabajo de Alain Johannes en la mezcla y masterización del álbum lo que realmente lo hizo tan poderoso.
MiM: ¿Cómo describirías un show en vivo de The Devils?
TD: Si hace tiempo que no tienes un buen orgasmo, deberías venir a uno de nuestros directos, donde transformamos a santos en lobos. Es muy parecido a ir a Lourdes, pero en lugar de felicidad, encontrarás una maldición eterna porque nunca volverás a experimentar algo tan emocionante. Por lo tanto, permanecerás insatisfecho con todo lo demás durante el resto de tus días.
MiM: Normalmente, cuando sacas un nuevo álbum, lo normal después es hacer una gira. ¿Qué planes tienes para promocionar este álbum?
TD: Hicimos una gira por Austria, Alemania, Holanda, Suiza e Italia durante todo el mes de marzo y fue genial. Continuaremos en abril y mayo, así como en los festivales de verano de la UE. También planeamos realizar más giras el próximo otoño, ¡con suerte también en España.

TD: El bien o el mal no existen; solo existen las necesidades que surgen del propio ser. La vida es tan insulsa: ¡hambre-satisfacción con la comida, después de ese asco!
The powerful Rock 'n' Roll duo The Devils, originally from Naples, Italy, released their new album "Let the World Burn Down" on February 9 under the record label Go Down Records. Made in Metal talks to Gianni Blacula to find out everything about this release.
MiM: What were the beginnings of the band? How did the idea to create the band come about and what is the concept behind the band name?
TD: The Devils are almost ten years old. Chaos seemed to know just how much it brought us together, how strong our mutual hatred towards people and society was. Equally vital and indispensable for our survival was our love for good music and fuckin’ rock ’n roll. After quitting our miserable jobs, we decided to create The Devils as our reason for living and earning. During the recording of our first demo, we watched Ken Russel's 1971 film, "The Devils," which aligned perfectly with our ideas about the misery of humanity and the absurdity of religion. The film portrays these concepts in a masterful and unparalleled way. Therefore we chose the name of the film as a good luck charm in our battle against the human race. The devil has nothing to do with it. This is another bullshit invented by the bosses to keep people by the balls. Fear is the true god because people never want to die (covid). So behind the name of the band, there is no poetic or even Satanist concept. Nature and matter have spoken to us enough to conclude that all religious cults and mysteries are nothing more than execrable lies and absurdities. There is only one world, and this is false, cruel, contradictory, seductive, meaningless, such a world is the true world. We need lies to win victory over this reality, over this "truth,” that is, to live.
MiM: “Let the World Burn Down” (Go Down Records, 2024) features a dirty, rough, and gritty sound. Close to garage and noise with a medium grunge base. Is that so? How do you see it?
TD: This new album is a reflection of ourselves and our diverse range of influences over the past few years, including films, literature, real-life experiences, and music. To tell the truth, the songs on this album are heavily influenced by the black music, blues, and soul that we have been consuming. Anyway, we grew up with those genres you mentioned, so maybe they are inside us now and can still be heard in the things we make. Yes, of course, you are right because we are two dirty and rough beasts, not two jerks who sing idiotic songs with Christmas melodies for children.
MiM: What is the creative process like when composing new material? Is it a collaborative process between everyone, or does it fall to one or two people?
TD: We usually collaborate on everything, but Erika makes the final decision due to her talent for selecting interesting things. As I mentioned earlier, our new album features mostly riffs and melodies inspired by old blues or soul records. We have improved our ability to replicate these sounds accurately and have set aside any notions of ego or that bullshit about artistic creativity. We support the thesis of art only as a crime and the artist as a criminal. Art is subversion, and civilization is repression. We are two uncivilized rock n' roll criminals. Perhaps the last two are left.
MiM: The production, mixing, and mastering work is impeccable. In which recording studio was the recording of the album carried out?
TD: Our label introduced us to Mal De Testa Recording Studio, a beautiful studio near Padua, Italy, where we produced the album. However, it was Alain Johannes' work in mixing and mastering the album that truly made it so powerful.
MiM: How would you describe a live show by The Devils?
TD: If you haven't had a good orgasm for a while, you should come to one of our live shows, where we transform saints into wolves. It’s pretty much like going to Lourdes, but instead of bliss, you will find an eternal curse because you will never experience anything so exciting again. Therefore, you will remain dissatisfied with everything else for the rest of your days.
MiM: Normally, when you release a new album, the normal thing afterward is to tour. What plans do you have to promote this album?
TD: We toured Austria, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, and Italy for the whole month of March, and it was great. We will continue in April and May, as well as at EU summer festivals. We also plan to go on more tours next autumn, hopefully in Spain too!
MiM: Finally, I wanted you to feel free to share a few words with your fans and our readers?
TD: Good or evil do not exist; only the needs that arise from one's own being exists. Life is so bland: hunger-meal satisfaction, after that disgust!
