MiM - Hola, es un gran placer entrevistar a Magnus Rosen, uno de los músicos más importantes y completos del panorama internacional del rock y el metal. !Hola Magnus! ¿Cómo estás? Gracias por aceptar chatear con Made in Metal, España.
MR - Es un placer. En primer lugar, diré que España es un hermoso país de metal con bandas fantásticas y un gran público de rock enorme, me quito el sombrero ante ustedes, mis amigos españoles.
MiM - Magnus, aunque conozco casi todo tu trabajo, me gustaría que los lectores de Made in Metal descubrieran todo sobre ti a través de esta entrevista. Por eso me gustaría que me contaras tu experiencia en bandas como Shame, Kung Sune, Northern Light, Von Rossen, The Stuart Smith's, Billionaires Boys Club (banda de hard rock formada por Jörg Fischer (ex Accept) y Mark Boals (ex vocalista Yngwie Malmsteen) entre otras bandas. ¿Qué recuerdos tienes de esos años? ¿Cómo fue trabajar con Mark Boals?
MR - Sí, tengo una larga vida musical. Empecé a los 14 años con el sueño del mundo de la música. Siempre amé el mundo y todas las diferentes culturas y personas que existen. No soy un hater, soy un amante y ha sido así toda mi vida. Shame fue la primera banda con la que hicimos un sencillo, mi primera grabación. Fue fascinante, y yo tenía 16 años en ese momento, si mal no recuerdo. Era rock duro. La portada fue dibujada de nosotros cinco en la banda. Mi sueño apenas comenzaba a ser real.
Kung Sune fue una verdadera banda de rock, mi música desde nuestras raíces hasta el año 1950. Me encanta todo tipo de música. ¡Para mí la música es música! Pero mi plataforma es el Hard Rock. Esta banda era famosa en Suecia y yo tenía 17 años. Tuvimos como 1000 - 3000 personas en nuestros conciertos. Recuerda que yo era joven y no era mejor bajista que los demás. Pero me encantaba tocar, y también era amable con otras personas, así que esa fue mi llave para abrir la puerta de la música.
Norden Light tenía un nombre antes que Chris Mentzer Group y allí yo era el bajista. Esto era música de Hard Rock real con grandes músicos. Chris Mentzer fue un cantante fantástico, que luego cantó con Silver Mountain. También toqué con Geashia, no preguntaste por esta banda, pero debo decírtelo. En Geashia, Mikkey Dee en la batería, yo al bajo, Pete Black, guitarra de King Diamond y Jens el cantante, fue hace mucho tiempo. Allí tocamos juntos y hoy vemos que algunos de susmiembros realmente estaban sacudiendo al mundo.
Von Rosen fue mi banda junto con Pete Sandberg un gran cantante, si buscas su nombre en YouTube lo encontrarás. Hicimos dos sencillos y también una pequeña gira con Madison.
Stuart Smith tenía una banda llamada Midnight y conocí a este buen chico en Los Ángeles cuando vivía allí. Tocó antes en una banda llamada Sweet, no era el integrante original, sino un integrante de esta gran banda, una de mis favoritas estos años. Yo tenía 26-27 años. La música era más de Deep Purple y Sweet. Es una muy buena banda de hard rock. El baterista se unió más tarde a la banda Flotsam and Jetsam. Estuvimos tocando en LA y tuvimos la suerte de tener una gran limusina para todos los shows que hicimos. Dio un buen sabor a nuestros conciertos. También tuvimos algunos músicos invitados algunas veces, como Mikkey Dee y otros. No puedo recordar todos los nombres, pero debo decir que fue un momento divertido cuando Los Ángeles era el centro mundial del rock.
En LA conocí a Anders Johansson, el baterista de Yngwie Malmsteen, junto con Jörg Fischer de Accept. Hicimos una banda llamada Billionaires Boys Club. Estaba Mark Boals, el cantante. Fue genial la música, Hard Rock. Tal vez puedas encontrar nuestro álbum por ahí. Fue un placer tocar con estos grandes músicos. Hicimos una breve gira en Suecia, pero esta vez estuvo con nosotros Göran Edman, ex cantante de Yngwie Malmsteen. Mark Boals tenía algo en EE. UU., por lo que no pudo venir a Suecia esta vez.
Como ves, toqué con muchos grandes músicos y bandas. Recuerda que no era mejor que otros bajistas, pero amaba lo que hacía y siempre aprecié a otros músicos y también a los fanáticos. Creo que esa fue la razón de todas mis posibilidades con bandas y amigos.
La historia es más larga que esto, pero esta es una versión corta de los primeros 10-15 años de mi vida.
MiM - Magnus eres un bajista que ha tocado varios géneros musicales como el jazz. ¿Cuéntame sobre eso? ¿Qué beneficio crees que tienes como músico al tocar varios géneros?
MR - No diré que soy un músico de jazz, pero toqué con grandes músicos de Jazz. Sabes, como bajista, la mayor parte del tiempo te conviertes en la base junto con la batería, la maquinaria en la música. Y es genial, pero me encantaba tocar el bajo, así que estaba buscando más espacio para tocar el bajo. Siempre pensé que la música es música, los tonos son tonos, los ritmos son ritmos. Así empiezo la aventura hacia otros estilos musicales. Mi primer álbum en solitario que lancé creo que fue en el año 2000 con el nombre "Imagine a Place". Estaba fuera del rock. Lo grabé con un fantástico saxofonista de jazz llamado Biggi Vinkeloe, Anders Johansson también estuvo en algunas pistas. Recibimos críticas fantásticas de América del Sur. Un periodista musical en Brasil nos dio el segundo mejor álbum de ese año. Eso es grande, creo. Hice alrededor de diez álbumes en solitario con mis aventuras de bajo fuera de la música rock. Aprendí mucho y también entiendo la diferencia entre los estilos musicales. Traté de completar mi espada musical como se puede decir en el mundo de la música metal.
MiM - Dentro de tu trabajo en solitario como músico, has realizado varias giras por Sudamérica en las que has donado las ganancias de los conciertos a organizaciones benéficas. Un gesto que tiene mucho que decir con la grandeza de tu alma. ¿Podrías contarme cómo surgió la idea?
MR - Sí, hice trece giras en la hermosa Sudamérica. Tres de estas giras fueron giras benéficas con mi one-man-band y mi bajo. La primera vez que estuve en esta parte del mundo vi a toda esta gente pobre, todas las favelas/guetos, en gran parte de las ciudades y me hizo variar y pensar que la vida no es justa. Y muchas autoridades poderosas no son personas que se preocupan por otras personas.
Es fácil que este pueblo tenga un corazón oscuro si no pide luz y amor, si no aprecia lo que ya tiene. Lo consiguieron todo, pero tendrán aún más poder. Esa es la parte malvada de cómo sucede. No todas las personas son así, pero muchas personas cambian con facilidad si tienen poder. Es su elección pertenecer allí cuando se sienten como en casa. Cuando vi todas estas favelas, mi deseo fue conocer a esta gente, hablar con ellos y entender un poco más sobre la vida. Por supuesto que puede ser peligroso para un hombre blanco como yo entrar allí, así que necesitaba una llave para esta puerta.
Un día en Suecia en el bosque donde vivo; encontré la llave de las puertas de las favelas en América del Sur. Hacía conciertos benéficos y la entrada eran dos kilogramos de comida. Yo pagaba todos los gastos como boletos aéreos, hoteles, etc., por lo que toda la entrada era la comida. La última vez que hice esta gira benéfica fue con Rotary, me ayudaron con los gastos. También me comuniqué con organizaciones de ayuda en los diferentes países para que mi transacción con los alimentos fuera de manera respetuosa. Yo no soy Dios y no voy a tratar de jugar a ser Dios para los pobres. Sólo estaba interesado en conocer a esta gente. Entonces, cuando las organizaciones de ayuda salieron con toda la comida que obtuve de las entradas, pude seguirlos a los guetos / favelas para regalar toda la comida.Cuando estaba parado allí en este lugar, solo, lejos de Suecia al otro lado del mundo y cuando vi los ojos de la gente pobre, también estaba viendo amor en sus ojos. Estaba comprendiendo como todos ustedes ya saben. Fácilmente podría haber sido yo quien era pobre en circunstancias imposibles. La vida no es justa y las fuerzas oscuras son fuertes en este mundo.
Sé que mis misiones no sirvieron de mucho, solo fue como un pequeño grano de arena del desierto. Nada de lo que estar orgulloso. Pero era, en fin, un grano de arena pequeño pero bueno, un grano de luz, era algo. Entonces, cuando regresaba a Suecia, me comuniqué con las escuelas e impartí conferencias allí. Todavía hoy hablo sobre estas organizaciones benéficas, la gente hermosa y cómo me sentí cuando estaba parado allí en sus hogares. Levanto la bandera por todas las personas pobres del mundo y todos debemos luchar por la justicia antes de que matemos este planeta y a la gente hermosa como la vida.
MiM - Con Hammerfall tuviste una carrera impresionante de aproximadamente 10 años, donde formaste parte de los discos más importantes de la banda. ¿Qué recuerdos tienes de aquellos tiempos? ¿Cómo fueron esos inicios en la banda? ¿Qué disco de esa época te sigue gustando?
MR - Sí, tuve la suerte de ser parte de esto. Cuando Hammerfall me contactó, el primer álbum no había sido lanzado, esa banda no era famosa. Era una banda de garaje con grandes canciones, pensé. La primera vez que nos encontramos en una cafetería, estaban buscando un bajista y yo acababa de llegar a casa después de mis años en EE. UU. / LA. La música me gustaba y Joacim Cans y Oscar parecían buenos chicos. Cuando se lanzó “Glory to the Brave”, hicimos nuestra primera gira por Europa. Por supuesto, nos sorprendió tener una gira tan grande un mes después del lanzamiento. Eso fue más de lo que pudimos soñar.
Cuando llegamos al Wacken Open Air Festival 1997, creo que el gerente nos dijo que hiciéramos una sesión de firmas en una tienda de discos. Recuerdo que pensé, ¿sesión de firmas para qué? Jajajaja, sí, nunca entendí que fuera para nuestro disco. No podía imaginar que la gente estuviera interesada en nosotros. Pero lo estaban, sonríe. Fue tan fantástico, debo decir.
Sí, hay mucho de qué hablar cuando se trata de Hammerfall, creo que necesito escribir un libro para contar todos los recuerdos y experiencias, pero puedo decir que nunca pensé que era especial, pero me dieron la oportunidad de seguir, una situación con mucha suerte. Me encantaban los conciertos y las giras con todo mi corazón, tocar buena música para grandes personas, lo que más quería. Estábamos de gira por todo el mundo, obtuvimos un disco de oro, nominaciones a los Grammy, premios Euro y mucho más. Fue como un sueño. Los primeros álbumes tenían un fuerte espíritu Hammerfall; era como brillar en la música.
Creo que todos los álbumes que pude grabar con Hammerfall fueron buenos. No sé si le di a la banda algo más, me encantaba tocar y también tocar para el mejor público. Fue como fuego dentro de mí en todos los conciertos que hicimos durante estos diez años. Realmente lo aprecié, muchas gracias por esta aventura, a todos ustedes que vinieron y escucharon nuestros conciertos y compraron nuestros discos. Hiciste nuestro sueño realidad. Y muchas gracias a la banda, por supuesto, siempre tuvimos mucha energía y espíritu Hammerfall cuando tocamos estas grandes canciones que escribieron Joacim y Oscar.
MiM - En lo personal, el disco “Renegade” (Nuclear Blast, 2000) fue un disco que me impactó cuando lo escuché. Con los años este álbum se ha convertido en un clásico del Power Metal. ¿Cuál es tu opinión acerca de esto?
MR - Grabamos el disco con el productor Michael Wagener, produjo a muchas bandas. El estudio de grabación estaba en Nashville en Estados Unidos. Los estudios de Wolf Hoffman (Accept) que se encontraban en su rancho. Recuerdo que todo el bajo se grabó en un día, más una hora al día siguiente.
Daré todos los créditos a Michael Wagener, quien creó la mejor inspiración para la grabación. Fue uno de los mejores productores con los que trabajé, sin olvidar a Fredrik Nordström, también fue un gran productor con el que trabajar. Creo que este álbum abrió las puertas más grandes al mundo del metal. Nuestro video y el álbum fueron muy buenos. Mi agradecimiento, ahora mismo en este tiempo que estuvimos cerca de hacerlo, (sonríe).
MiM - Fuiste parte del proyecto X-World/5 junto a Andy La Rocque, Big Swede, Reeves Gabrels y Nils K. Rue. ¿Cómo fue tu inclusión en la banda? ¿De qué se trataba el proyecto?
MR - Fuimos Big Swede y yo quienes empezamos la banda. Un día nos tomamos un café o una cerveza en lo alto de un hotel de nuestro pueblo llamado Gothia Tower. Es una gran vista desde este bar. Allí decidimos hacer X-World/5. Nuestro pensamiento era crear metal del futuro. ¿Cómo sonaría la música metal en el futuro?
Big Swede tiene un estudio de música en California y hace grandes cosas allí. También trabaja a veces con su amigo Reever Gabriel, el guitarrista que tocó con David Bowie durante, creo, doce años. Hoy toca en The Cure. Andy la Rocque de King Diamond era nuestro amigo en Suecia y Nils K Rue era un gran cantante que conozco de Pagan´s Mind y bandas que estaban de gira junto con Hammerfall. Estaba la banda, el álbum “New Universal Order” que puedes encontrar en YouTube si estás interesado. Conseguimos un contrato de grabación con AFM. Esta fue una gran banda, ojalá vuelva a ver la luz.
MiM - En 2009 formaste parte de la formación de la banda Revolution Renaissance liderada por Timo Tolkki. ¿Cómo fue trabajar con Timo?
MR - Gracias por preguntar. Timo Tolkki es un buen tipo y un gran guitarrista. La primera vez que nos encontramos fue en la gira de Stratovarius y Hammerfall. El tipo que siempre estaba sonriendo, lo recuerdo. No hay mucho que decir sobre esto. Nunca tocamos en vivo, ojalá se dijera la oportunidad. Estoy seguro de que lo haríamos genial juntos. Pero a veces el camino no lleva a ninguna parte. Ojalá tuviera más que decir. Cómo saber si nuestros caminos se volverán a cruzar ojalá, espero.
MiM - Magnus, cuéntame sobre el proyecto que formaste Bleckhorn con el vocalista Göran Edman (Ex Yngwie Malmsteen), el baterista John Norum y Peter Hermansson. Excelentes críticas del EP Dragonfire. Tiene un sonido increíble. ¿En qué estudio de grabación tuvo lugar? ¿Cómo fue el proceso de grabación y producción musical del EP?
MR - Bleckhorn es una GRAN banda. Es Jayce Lanberg el escritor y guitarrista de esta banda. Lo encuentro en YouTube donde estaba su gran música. Entonces lo contacté y le pregunté si podíamos formar una banda sobre nuestra historia en el norte, música sobre los vikingos. Nuestro maxi single salió y la música tiene melodías fuertes y fáciles de captar, y con Göran Edman, una voz fantástica, no puede ser malo, (sonríe). ¡Espero que encontremos un contrato de grabación algunos días porque esta es una gran banda y estoy seguro de que si tuviéramos la oportunidad sería grande! Lo grabamos fuera de Gotemburgo en un estudio JM, allí nos grabó Martin Kronlund.
MiM - Con Joe Lynn Turner fuiste parte de una gira en Escandinavia. ¿Cómo fue tocar con Joe?MR - Tocar con Joe Lynn Turner fue un placer. Es un gran cantante de Rainbow y Deep Purple, también de la banda Yngwie Malmsteen. Cuando era niño escuchaba Rainbow y Deep Purple y resulta que un día estaba tocando con este tipo fantástico, Joe. Disfruté cada minuto de esta gira. Tocar la música que amo y con la que crecí junto con esta banda fue muy agradable.
Fue Jorge Salan de la banda Avalanch quien me recomendó para esta gira. Un guitarrista brillante, debo decir. Joe es una persona muy agradable y un fantástico cantante de rock. Ojalá algún día pueda volver a tocar con él.
MiM - The Senior Management es una banda de la que formaste parte junto con Göran Edman, Henrik Zetterlund y Dennis Heltorp con quienes grabaste el disco Heart & Soul (2018). Háblame de este álbum.
MR – Dennis, el fundador de Senior Management es mi amigo. Así que un día estaba llamando a la puerta de mi casa en el bosque y me preguntó si me gustaría tocar el bajo en su disco. Él es mi amigo, así que le dije, por supuesto que tocaré. Lanzamos el álbum y está ahí afuera. Sí, Göran Edam grabó la voz, como digo, si Göran canta siempre es muy bueno.
MiM - En tu recorrido musical por grandes proyectos, me gustaría que me hablaras de tu trabajo con Tony Martin. El pasado 14 de enero fue el lanzamiento del CD titulado “Thorns”. ¿Qué puedes decirme sobre el álbum? ¿En qué estudio de grabación tuvo lugar? ¿Cómo fue el proceso de grabación? Al escuchar el sencillo “As the World Burns” me doy cuenta de que Tony está en muy buena forma. ¡Su voz es increíble!
MR – Con Tony Martin tuve un encuentro en una obra de teatro de café en Gotemburgo. Fue solo una coincidencia hace casi 10 años. Tony Martin fue el cantante de Black Sabbath y este tipo es genial. Su voz es extraordinaria y también una muy buena persona.
Hicimos algunos shows juntos en estos años. Uno fue en Birmingham en Inglaterra, también Geoff Nicholls, teclado de Black Sabbath estaba en la banda. No todas las personas saben que tocó con Black Sabbath durante más de 20 años, tal vez 25 años. Danny Needham, batería de Venom y también Dario Mollo en guitarra. ¡Qué banda! (sonríe)
Hace unos años nos reunimos en Inglaterra e hicimos un ensayo; Creo que fue por esta época que Tony estaba pensando en su nuevo álbum “Thorns”. De todos modos, es un álbum asesino con una voz asesina. Hasta ahora, veo reseñas del álbum, que está entre los primeros clasificados. Ser una pequeña parte de esto me hace sentir muy feliz, amo a Tony y también su música. En la segunda canción, "Black Widow Angel" del álbum, Tony me pidió que hiciera una pequeña línea de bajo sobresaliente, quiso que también tuviera mi sabor personal en el álbum. Siempre es divertido cuando la gente pregunta por tu personalidad. Pero está bien, de todos modos, así que no me malinterpreten.
También estoy feliz de tocar en la pista "As The World Burns". Es una canción fuerte y creo que se trata de nuestro tiempo ahora en la Tierra. Espero que estemos en la carretera girando en 2023. Es lo que me dijo Tony, así que veamos a dónde lleva este camino. Estoy cruzando los dedos por este álbum “Thorns”.
MiM – “Thorns” es un disco que ha recibido excelentes críticas por parte de la prensa especializada y público en general. ¿Qué canciones de este disco te gustan más?
MR - Es difícil de decir, el álbum es amplio y tiene muchas pistas que son geniales. El título “Thorns” es una canción fuerte, pero hay otras fuertes en el álbum. Así que hasta ahora no puedo elegir una canción del álbum, diría que es un gran álbum que escribió Tony. Escuché que todos los discos de Tony en Black Sabbath tendrán un nuevo lanzamiento y si esto sucede, también creo que escucharemos mucho más de este gran cantante Tony Martin este año.
MiM - Con Avalanch formaste parte de la formación de la banda durante un año y medio, grabando el CD “El Ángel Caido - XV Aniversario”. ¿Cómo entraste en la banda? ¿Cómo fue trabajar con Alberto Rionda?
MR - Fue muy agradable viajar a España casi todas las semanas durante un año y seis meses cuando tuve la oportunidad de unirme a Avalanch a través de un gerente de Brasil, Paul Baron. Lo conocí cuando hicimos una gira por Sudamérica con Hammerfall. Estaba buscando un bajista para la banda, afortunadamente me contactó. Paulo Baron fue el manager mientras toqué en Avalanch.
Para mí, la música rock es música poderosa, pero necesita ser servida con fuerza al público. Esa es mi opinión. Soy yo como un músico de rock. Fue agradable visitar este estilo de música que tiene muchas partes y contando con ritmos en las canciones que duraban entre 8 y 12 minutos. Grandes letras y bonitas melodías. Creo que los músicos fueron geniales, grandes intérpretes, debo decir. El segundo show que tuvimos después de solo un fin de semana de ensayos hicimos nuestro concierto de tres horas en Madrid con muchos invitados geniales en el show. El público fue fantástico. Toqué allí antes con Hammerfall. Este programa lo grabamos en DVD que puedes encontrar, estoy seguro, en Internet. Creo que cortaron el solo de bajo, pero está bien. Os mando mi último solo de bajo en Barcelona con Avalanch
¡Qué público!, me quito el sombrero, gente maravillosa que estuvo allí. En toda banda tienes diferente opinión y visión de las cosas, esto es común. Creo que puede tener razón, pero a veces de diferentes maneras, también creo que esta conversación siempre se queda en la banda. No es para otros. Sé que han tenido 17-18 músicos que tocaron en la banda y luego se fueron. Depende de cada persona seguir el corazón y tomar decisiones, quedarse o irse. Hicimos muchos shows en España que me gustaron. Gran público y promotores. También hicimos una gira exitosa en Sudamérica con grandes recuerdos. Después de un año y seis meses, era hora de que dejara la banda. Mi forma de disfrutar la actuación en el escenario con todo mi fuego dentro de mí que no puedo parar. En otras palabras, Avalanch no era adecuado para mí. Pero estoy muy agradecida por este tiempo.
Puedo decir que tuvimos muchas conversaciones interesantes sobre la vida. Siempre estuve feliz de viajar a la hermosa España. Quizás España sería un segundo hogar algún día. Quién sabe tal vez lo será pero sin banda, sonríe. También diré que los chicos eran muy amigables en la banda.
MiM - En una palabra, ¿cómo describirías a Mike Terrana como baterista? ¿Cómo describirías el concierto que hiciste en Cuba con la banda Tendencia?
MR - Sobre Mike Terrana, es un baterista poderoso que se ve muy bien con su cresta, me encanta. Al final de nuestra gira por Sudamérica tocamos en Cuba. Amo a Cuba con su maravillosa población. Realmente espero ser bienvenido de nuevo. Tocamos allí con una banda fantástica llamada Tendencia. Son tipos poderosos e impresionantes. ¡Me encanta! Los chicos de Tendencia nos recogieron en el aeropuerto cuando llegamos. Habían pedido prestado un autobús de la ciudad donde tocaríamos uno o dos días después de nuestra llegada. El pueblo era Pinar del Río si no recuerdo mal. Tan bonita ciudad. La banda cubana Tendencia realmente nos hizo sentir bien en la parte de Cuba. Muchas gracias por eso.
Allí hicimos un show con Tendencia y Avalanch. Fue un concierto de dos bandas cabeza de cartel y Tendencia empezó con un show muy potente debo decir. Esa es una banda genial. Estaba pensando cómo podemos manejar las situaciones después de una banda como esa, "Mamma Mia". Hicimos nuestra parte del concierto esta noche y toda la gente estaba feliz. Espero volver algún día a Cuba y a mis amigos del metal allí.
MiM - Magnus ha tocado con orquestas sinfónicas y con la Ópera de Gotemburgo. También eres un fiel defensor de la lucha por la no violencia contra las mujeres, a favor de la igualdad de derechos. En otras palabras, tienes una carrera impresionante como músico, pero al mismo tiempo tienes un trabajo inmenso a favor de los seres humanos. Por favor, me gustaría que comentara sobre esta experiencia.
MR - Sí, tuve la suerte de tocar con la Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional Sueca. Hicimos dieciocho conciertos más grabé uno de mi álbum en solitario con esta Orquesta / Past Future. También toqué trece conciertos con The Royal Phil Harmonic Orchestra en Estocolmo y en algunos lugares más. Tocar con músicos tan buenos y músicos altamente capacitados fue muy inspirador. Sí, no hay que olvidar que yo mismo empecé a tocar en el garaje sin ninguna educación musical. Lo que puedo, lo he aprendido durante el viaje.
Sobre la Violencia, sí soy fiel defensor de la lucha por la no violencia contra las mujeres. Si no puedes amar a las mujeres, tienes derecho a irte, pero un caballero nunca usa la violencia contra una mujer. ¡Nada más que decir al respecto! También estoy en contra de todo tipo de violencia, esa es una forma baja de conversar. Ese es mi punto de vista.
La guerra es el infierno, ese es el peor lado de la humanidad. Pero en esta vida todos somos diferentes, y algunas personas pertenecen más al lado autodestructivo, otras están más a favor de la luz, la comprensión y el Amor. Si te preguntas quién eres, entonces mira tus elecciones en la vida. Todos tenemos diferentes puntos de partida y desde allí tomamos nuestras decisiones que también muestran quiénes somos realmente y con qué podemos trabajar para convertirnos en una mejor persona.
MiM - ¿Qué puedes decirme sobre el nuevo álbum de Autumn's Child titulado “Zenit” (Pride & Joy Music, 2022)? ¿Cuáles son los planes para este año?
MR - Esta es una gran banda, debo decir. Mi amigo el cantante Mikael Erlandsson quien es un músico y cantante muy talentoso, ha hecho dieciocho álbumes con su banda Autumns Child. Me preguntó sobre este último álbum. Quería ser miembro de la banda mientras grabábamos el disco. De hecho, crecimos en la misma calle cuando éramos jóvenes. Pero no fue hasta 2021 que decidimos jugar juntos cuando acepté la oferta. Tengo muchas ganas de empezar de gira con la banda. Creo que Japón está cerca ya que la banda es popular allí. El álbum en el que estoy ha recibido las mejores críticas en muchos lugares, lo que da esperanza. Muy buenos músicos en la banda, no puedo esperar para empezar a tocar en vivo con ellos.
MiM - Cuéntame sobre el proyecto de constelaciones donde tocas con músicos de rock, funk, polka, blues y pop. Tienes un amplio repertorio donde puedes tocar cualquier género. ¡Impresionante! Háblame, ¿cómo lo haces?
MR - Permítanme comenzar así: mi forma de pensar es que la música es música, los tonos son tonos y los ritmos son ritmos, las armonías son armonías. Estas son tus herramientas. Entonces lo más importante de todo es tu pasión por la música. Un tono es siempre el mismo sin importar el estilo de música que toques. Las diferencias son ritmos y armonías. Si lo llevas a este nivel, no es tan arriesgado atreverse a tocar otros estilos.
Pruebo diferentes estilos solo porque creo que es divertido. No hay nadie que me obligue a hacer esto, solo mi propia pasión. Hay tanto por aprender, y también por sentir en cuerpo y alma con los diferentes estilos de música. Realmente no hago esto para ser mejor que nadie, solo creo que es emocionante y divertido. La música también tiene diferentes mensajes, lo que hace que las diferencias sean más grandes o más pequeñas.
MiM - Uno de tus lados que más me impresiona es el de profesor dónde hablabas con la gente sobre cómo afrontar la vida. ¿Cómo surgió la idea? ¿Alguna anécdota que me puedas contar sobre esta noble idea?
MR - Gracias por ver y apreciar esto. Esto no es algo que pensé que a nadie le importaba. Mis conferencias son sobre: Atreverse a ser valiente. Sueños visiones y fe en el futuro. Esto da esperanza y tu esperanza lo es todo. Se trata de estimular a las personas a que se atrevan a tomar en serio sus vidas e intereses. Todo el mundo puede hacer muchas veces mucho más de lo que piensa. Atreverse a darse cuenta de que usted mismo es hermoso si su alma sonríe.
Con cada año que pasa, me siento menos y menos especial. Sí, un día no soy nadie y luego dejo este mundo. Soy solo mi pasión y mis elecciones en la vida, nada más. Por supuesto que espero y amo tocar para otras personas. Para conocer y ver la diferencia o similitud entre sí. Para tratar de no sembrar el odio y luchar con el amor de la madre tierra y toda la vida donde también estás incluido.
MiM - Con Magnus Rosen Band debería salir el disco “The World and Times”. ¿Cuándo estará disponible? ¿Cómo fue el proceso de escribir la música? ¿Qué planes tenéis para promocionarlo? Háblame de los invitados de lujo que tiene este fonograma.
MR - Gracias por preguntar por M.R.B - Magnus Rosén Band. Este es mi primer álbum de música Rock que hago en mi nombre. La música rock es mis raíces que nadie puede cambiar. Todo comenzó a partir de una gira con Shadowside que hice en Brasil. Estos días en Brasil me hospedé en la casa de Fabio Buitvida en San Paulo. Habíamos tomado una cerveza por la noche y hablamos de que sería divertido jugar más entre nosotros. Somos amigos de la banda en Shadowside, pero allí solo hacemos giras de vez en cuando. Fabio dijo: “mi amigo Magnus, mi casa es tu casa, mi estudio es tu estudio”.
La hospitalidad de Fabio abrió la puerta a M.R.B.Empezamos a grabar el álbum al día siguiente. Al día siguiente me fui a su casa al norte. Raphael, que es el guitarrista de Shadowside, estaba listo de inmediato. Ahí teníamos el trío básico para la banda. Hemos hecho varias giras juntos y sé que Fabio y Raphael son personas maravillosas para viajar. Nunca se quejan, ven las posibilidades y el placer en las cosas. Dani Nolen es el cantante de Shadowside y además una persona maravillosa. Podría comenzar una nueva banda con los mismos miembros. Así que fueron Fabio y Raphael quienes se unieron a esta banda.
Cuando vine a Suecia, comencé a pensar en algunos invitados y algunos miembros más para una banda completa. Enviamos ideas de canciones a todo el mundo y hoy tenemos un álbum completo, solo quedan algunas pistas de canciones. Hoy, los invitados/artistas y músicos de la banda son:

En este momento estamos buscando el sello discográfico adecuado para unirse a esta aventura. Mi sueño es empezar a hacer giras con M.R.B. Parece que serán diecisiete canciones. Siete canciones nuevas, cinco homenajes a otros artistas de la banda que han significado mucho para mí a lo largo de la vida. También hay un Tributo a Hammerfall que ha proporcionado una plataforma fantástica para trabajar. También cinco bonus tracks fuera del disco. Esto va a ser un fuego artificial de música, lo prometo. Espero poder estrenarlo en 2022.
MiM - ¿Proyecto de gira o conciertos este año?
MR - Con esta pandemia es difícil decirlo, pero realmente espero que el mundo se abra pronto y también espero que aprendamos algo de esto. El año pasado tuvimos una pequeña apertura en Suecia, así que toqué para personas mayores en una casa de retiro. Estaban tan felices de tener algo de música, también toqué en clubes más pequeños con mis amigos, además de algunas conferencias. Apuesto a que veremos cuando se trata de 2022. Hasta ahora, dos lanzamientos con Tony Martin y Autumns Child, es un buen comienzo. Y ojala un lanzamiento con M.R.B.

“We all must fight for justice before we all kill this planet”
MiM - Hello, it is a great pleasure to interview Magnus Rosen, one of the most important and most complete musicians on the international rock and metal scene. Hi Magnus!! How are you? Thank you for agreeing to chat with Made in Metal, Spain.
MR - It’s my pleasure. First of all, I will say that Spain is a beautiful metal country with fantastic bands and enormous great rock public, my hat off to you my Spanish friends.
MiM - Magnus, although I know almost all of your work, I would like Made in Metal readers to discover everything about you through this interview. That's why I would like you to tell me about your experience in bands like Shame, Kung Sune, Northern Light, Von Rossen, The Stuart Smith's, Billionaires Boys Club (a hard rock band made up of Jörg Fischer (ex Accept) and Mark Boals (former vocalist Yngwie Malmsteen) among other bands? What memories do you have of those years? How was it working with Mark Boals?
MR - Yes I had a long music life. I started with I was 14 years old with the dream of the music world. I always loved the world and all the different cultures and people out there. I’m not a hater, I’m a lover and it’s been like that all my life. Yes, Shame was the first band we did a single with, my first recording. It was fascinating, and I was 16 years old at the time if I remember right. It was Hard rock music. The cover was drawn of us five in the band. My dream was just starting to be real.
Kung Sune was a real Rock band, my music from our roots all the way to the year 1950. I love all kinds of music. For me music is music! But my platform is Hard Rock music. This band was famous in Sweden and I was 17 years old. We had like 1000 - 3000 people at our concerts. Remember I was young and I was not a better bass player than others. But I was loving to play, and I was also nice to other people, so that was my key to the music gate.
Norden Light had a name before Chris Mentzer Group and there I was the bass player. This was real Hard Rock music with great musicians. Chris Mentzer was a fantastic singer who was later singing with Silver Mountain. I also played with Geashia, you didn´t ask about this band but I must tell you. In Geashia, Mikkey Dee drums, Me bass, Pete Black Guitar from King Diamond, and Jens the singer, it was a long time ago. There we played together and today we see that few of the members really were rocking the world.
Von Rosen was my band together with Pete Sandberg a great singer, if you search his name on YouTube you will find him. We did two singles and also a small tour with Madison.
Stuart Smith had a band called Midnight and I meet their nice guy in Los Angeles when I lived there. He played before in a band called Sweet, he was not the original member, but a member of this great band. One of my favorite these years. I was 26-27 years old. The music was more to Deep Purple and Sweet. It’s a very good hard rock band. The drummer was later joining the band Flotsam and Jetsam. We were playing around in LA and was had the luck to have a big limousine for all the shows we did. It made a nice flavor to our concerts. We also had some guest musicians sometimes, like Mikkey Dee, and others. I can’t remember all names, but this was a fun time I must say when LA was the rock center of the world.
In LA I met Anders Johansson the drummer from Yngwie Malmsteen together with Jörg Fischer from Accept. We did a band called Billionaires Boys Club. There was Mark Boals the singer. It was great Hard Rock Music. You maybe can find our album out there. It was a pleasure to play with these great musicians. We played a short tour in Sweden, but this time Göran Edman ex-singer from Yngwie Malmsteen was with us. Mark Boals had something in the USA so he was not able to come to Sweden this time.
As you see I played with many great players and bands. Remember I was not better than other bass players, but I was loving what I did and I always appreciated other musicians and also fans. I think that was the reason for all my possibilities with bands and friends.
The story is much longer than this, but this is a short version of the first 10-15 rocking years in my life.
MIm - Magnus you are a bass player who has played various genres of music such as Jazz. Tell me about it? What benefit do you think you have as a musician in playing various genres?
Mr - I will not say I’m a jazz player but I played with great Jazz musicians. You know like a bass player you most of the time make your background together with the drums, the machinery in the music. And it’s cool, but I loved to play the bass, so I was searching for more space for my bass playing. I always thought music is music, tones are tones, rhythms are rhythms. So I start the adventure to other music styles. My first solo album I released I think it was the year 2000 with the name Imagine a Place. It was outside the rock box. I recorded it with a fantastic jazz saxophone player with the name Biggi Vinkeloe, Anders Johansson was also on a few tracks. We got fantastic reviews from South America. One music journalist in Brazil gave us the 2nd best album that year. That’s big I think. I did around ten solo albums with my bass adventures outside the rock music. I learned a lot and also understand the difference between music styles. I tried to complete my music sword as you can say in the world of metal music.
MiM - Within your solo work as a musician, you have made several tours of South America in which you have donated the profits from the concerts to charities. A gesture that has a lot to say with the greatness of your soul. Could you tell me how the idea came about?
MR - Yes I did thirteen tours in beautiful South America. Three of these tours were charity tours with my one-man band and my bass. First time a was in this part of the world I saw these entire poor people, all the favelas/ghettos. It was in big parts of the cities and it made me vary and said life is not fair. And many people in the power authority are not people that care about other people. It’s easy for these people to get a dark heart if they don’t ask for light and love if they don’t appreciate what they ready have.
They got all but they will have even more power. That’s the evil part of how takes place. Not all people are like that, but many people have very easy to changes if they got power. But it’s their choice to belong there when they feel at home. When I saw all these favelas my wish was to meet these people, talk to them, and understand a little more about life. Of course, it can be dangerous for a white man like me to get in there, so I needed a key to this door.
One day in Sweden in the forest where I live; I find the key to the doors to the favelas in South America. If I did charity concerts and the entry was two kg of food. I pay for all the expenses like air tickets, hotels, etc, so all the entry was food. The last time I did this charity tour was with Rotary, they helped me with the expenses. I also contact help organizations in different country’s so my transaction with food would be in a respectful way. I’m not God and I will not try to play God for poor people. I was just interested to meet these people. So when the help organizations went out with all the food I got from the entry’s I was able to follow them into the ghettos/favelas to give away all the food.
When was standing there in this place alone far away from Sweden on the other side of the world and when I saw the eyes of the poor people I was also seeing love in their eyes. I was understanding like you already know. It could just as easily have been me who was poor with impossible circumstances. Life is not fair and the dark forces are strong in this world.
I know my missions didn´t help much, it was only like small sand corn from the desert. Nothing to be proud of. But it was, anyway, small but good sand corn, corn with light, it was something. So when I was coming back to Sweden, I contact the schools and did lectures there I still today talk about these Charities, the beautiful people, and how a felt when I was standing there in their homes. I raise the flag to all the poor people in the world and we all must fight for justice before we all kill this planet and the beautiful people who live here.
MiM - With Hammerfall, you had an impressive career of approximately 10 years, where you were part of the most important albums of the band. What memories do you have of those times? How were those beginnings in the band? What album from that time do you still like?
MR - Yes I had the luck to be a part of this. When Hammerfall contact me the first album was not released, that band was not famous. It was a garage band with great songs I thought. The first time we meet in a coffee shop, they were looking for a bass player, and I just arrived home from my years in USA / LA. The music I liked and Joacim Cans and Oscar looked like nice guys. All stared there. When “Glory to the Brave” was released we did our first Europe tour. Of course, we were surprised to get a so big tour one month after the release. That was more than we were able to dream about.
When we got to Wacken Open Air Festival 1997 I think, the manager was told us to make a signing session at a record store. I remember that I thought, signing session for what? Hahahaha, yes I never understand that it was for our album. I could not imagine that people were interested in us. But they were smiling. It was so fantastic I must say. Yes, it’s a lot to talk about when it comes to Hammerfall, I think I need to write a book to tell all the memories and experiences, but I can say that I never thought I was special, but that I was given the opportunity to follow a situation with a lot of luck. I was loving the concerts and tours with all my heart, playing great music for great people, what I wanted the most. We were touring around the world, did gold records, Grammy's nominations, Euro awards, and much more. It was like a dream.
I think the first few albums had a strong Hammerfall spirit; it was like glowing in the music. But all the albums I was able to record with Hammerfall I think were good. I don´t know if I gave the band something more than I was loving to play and also play for the best public. It was like a fire inside me on all the concerts we did this ten years. I really appreciated it, big thank you for this adventure, to you all who came and listened to our concerts and bought our records. You made our dream come true. And a big thanks to the band, of course, there we always had a lot of energy and Hammerfall spirit when we played these great songs that Joacim and Oscar wrote.
MiM - Personally, the album “Renegade” (Nuclear Blast, 2000) was an album that impacted me when I heard it. Over the years this album has become a classic of Power Metal. What is your opinion about it?
MR - We recorded the album with the producer Michael Wagener, he did many big bands. The recording studio was in Nashville in the USA. Wolf Hoffman ( Accept ) studios which lay on his ranch. I remember all the bass was recorded on one day, plus one hour the next day. I will give all the credits to Michael Wagener who created the best inspiration for the recording. It was one of the absolute best producers I worked with, not to forget Fredrik Nordström, he was also a great producer to work with. I think this album was open the bigger doors to the metal world. Our video and the album got very good appreciation, right now in this time we were near to make it, smile.
MiM - You were part of the X-World/5 project alongside Andy La Rocque, Big Swede, Reeves Gabrels, and Nils K. Rue. How was your inclusion in the band? What was the project about?
MR - It was me and Big Swede who started the band. One day we had a coffee or a beer at the top of a hotel in our town called Gothia Tower. It’s a great view from this bar. There we decide to make X-World/5. Our thought was to create metal from the future. How would metal music sound in the future?
Big Swede has a music studio in California and he does big things there. He also works sometimes with her friend Reever Gabriel the guitar player who played with David Bowie for I think twelve years. Today he plays in The Cure. Andy la Rocque from King Diamond was our friend in Sweden and Nils K Rue was a great singer I know from Pagan's Mind and bands that were touring together with Hammerfall. There was the band, the album “New Universal Order” you can find on YouTube if you are interested. We got a recording deal with AFM. This was a great band, I wish it will see the light again.
MiM - In 2009 you were part of the lineup of the band Revolution Renaissance led by Timo Tolkki. How was working with Timo?
MR - Thanks for asking. Timo Tolkki is a nice guy and a great guitar player. The first time we meet was on tour Stratovarius and Hammerfall. I guy who was always smiling, I remember. It’s not so much to say about this. We never played live with thought was said. I’m sure we would make it great together. But sometimes the path leads nowhere. I wish I had more to say. How knows if our roads will cross again wish I hope.
MiM - Magnus, tell me about the project that you formed Bleckhorn with vocalist Göran Edman (ex Yngwie Malmsteen), drummer John Norum and Peter Hermansson. Excellent reviews of the EP Dragonfire. It has an amazing sound. In which recording studio did it take place? How was the process of recording and musical production of the EP?
MR - Bleckhorn is a GREAT band. It is Jayce Lanberg the writer and guitar player for this band. I find him on YouTube where his great music was. So I contact him and asked if we can build a band about our history in the north, music about the Vikings. Our maxi-single was out and the music has strong melodies and is easy to catch, and with Göran Edman, fantastic vocal, it can’t be bad, smile. I hope we find a recording deal some days because this is a great band and I’m sure if we got the chance it would be big! We record it outside Gothenburg in a JM studio, where Martin Kronlund records us.
MiM - With Joe Lynn Turner you were part of a tour in Scandinavia. How was playing with Joe?MR - To play with Joe Lynn Turner was a pleasure. He is a great singer from Rainbow and Deep Purple, also from the Yngwie Malmsteen band. When I was a kid I listen to Rainbow and Deep Purple and one day I was playing with this fantastic guy Joe. I enjoyed every minute of this tour. Play music that I love and grow up with together with this very nice band. It was Jorge Salan from the band Avalanch who recommended me for this tour. A brilliant guitar player I must say. Joe is a very nice person and a fantastic rock singer. I wish one day to play with him again.
MiM - The Senior Management is a band you were part of along with Göran Edman, Henrik Zetterlund, and Dennis Heltorp with whom you recorded the album Heart & Soul (2018). Tell me about this Album?
MR - Dennis, the founder of Senior Management is my friend. So one day he was knocking on my door at my house in the forest and asked me if I like to play the bass on his album. He is my friend so I told him, of course, I will play. We released the album and it’s out there. Yes, Göran Edam recorded the voice, like I say If Göran sings it’s always very good.
MiM - In your musical journey through great projects, I would like you to tell me about your work with Tony Martin? Last January 14th was the release of the CD entitled “Thorns”. What can you tell me about the album? In which recording studio did it take place? How was the recording process? Listening to the single “As the World Burns” I realize that Tony is in very good shape. His voice is incredible!
MR - Tony Martin a meet in a coffee play in Gothenburg. It was just a coincidence almost 10 years ago. Tony Martin was the singer for Black Sabbath and this guy is great. He´s voice is extraordinary and also a very nice person.
We did some shows together during these years. One was in Birmingham in England, also Geoff Nicholls, a keyboard from Black Sabbath was in the band. All people don’t know that he played with Black Sabbath for more than 20 years, maybe 25 years. Danny Needham Drums from Venom and also Dario Mollo on guitar. What a band! (smile).
A few years ago we met in England and did a rehearsal; I think it was around this time Tony was thinking about his new album “Thorns”. Anyway, it’s a killer album with a killer voice. So far I see reviews from the album which is top-ranked all over. To be a small part of it make me feel very glad, I love Tony and also his music. In the 2nd song - “Black Widow Angel” on the album Tony asked me to make a little outstanding bass line wish also got my personal flavor into the album. It’s always fun when people ask for your personality. But is ok, anyway, so don’t misunderstand me.
I’m also happy to play on the open tracks “As The World Burns”. It’s a strong song and I think it’s just about our time just now on Earth. I hope we will be on the road / touring 2023. It is what Tony told me, so let's see where this path leads. I’m holding my finger crossed for this album Thorns.
MiM - “Thorns” is an album that has received excellent reviews from the specialized press and the general public. What songs from this album do you like the most?
MR - It’s hard to say, the album is wide and has many tracks that are great. The title “Thorns” is a strong song, but there are other strong characters on the album. So I can’t so far pick one song from the album, I say it’s a great album Tony wrote. I heard that all the Black Sabbath album Tony record will hopefully get a new release and if this happens I also think we will hear a lot more of this great singer Tony Martin this year.
MiM - With Avalanch you were part of the band lineup for a year and a half, recording the CD “El Ángel Caido - XV Aniversario”. How did you get in in the band? How was working with Alberto Rionda?
MR - It was very nice to travel to Spain almost every week for one year six months when I got the opportunity to join Avalanch through a manager from Brazil, Paul Baron. I met him when we toured South America with Hammerfall. He was looking for a showman bass player for the band, fortunately, he contact me. Paulo Baron was a manager so long as I played in Avalanch.
For me, rock music is powerful music but it needs to be served powerfully to the public. That’s my opinion. It’s me like a Rock musician. It was nice to visit this music style that has many parts and counting with rhythms in the songs that were around 8 to 12 minutes long. Great lyrics and nice melodies. The musicians were top I think, great players I must say. The second show we had after only one weekend of rehearsals we did our three hours long concerts in Madrid with a lot of great guests in the show. The public was fantastic. I played on these plays before with Hammerfall. This show we recorded on DVD that you can find, I’m sure, on the Internet. I think they cut out the bass solo, but it’s ok. I send you my last bass solo in Barcelona with Avalanch
What a public, my hat off you wonderful people who were there. In all bands you have different opinions and views of things, this is common. I think can be right but sometimes in different ways, I also believe that this conversation always stays in the band. It’s not for others. I know it’s been 17-18 musicians who played in the band and then left. It's up to each people to follow the heart and make choices, stay or go. We did many shows in Spain which I liked. Great public and promoters. We also did a successful tour in South America with great memories. After one year and six months, It was time for me to leave the band. My way of enjoying the performance on stage with all my fire inside me that I can’t stop, with other words Avalanch was not right for me. But I'm very thankful for this time.
I can say that we had a lot of interesting talks about life. I was always happy to travel to beautiful Spain. Maybe Spain would be a 2nd home one day. Who knows maybe it will be but without a band, smile. I will also say that the guys were very friendly in the band.
MiM - In one word, how would you describe Mike Terrana as a drummer? How would you describe the concert you did in Cuba with the band Tendencia?
MR - About Mike Terrana, he is a powerful drummer that looks great with his cockscomb, I love it. At the end of our South America tour, we played in Cuba. I love Cuba with its wonderful population. I really hope I’m welcome again. We played there with a fantastic band called Tendencia. They are powerful and impressive guys. I love it! The guys in Tendencia picked us up from the airport when we arrived. They had borrowed a bus from the city where we would play one or two days after arrival. The town was Pinar del Río if I remember right. So nice town.
The Cuban band Tendencia really made us feel good in the part of Cuba. Big thanks for that. We did one show there with Tendencia and Avalanch. It was a two headline band concert and Tendencia started with a very powerful show I must say. That's a cool Rockband. I was thinking about how can we handle the situation after a band like that “Mamma Mia ” We did our part of the concert this evening and all people were happy. I hope that I will be back one day to Cuba and my metal friends there.
MiM - Magnus has played with Symphony orchestras and with the Gothenburg Opera. You are also a faithful defender of the fight for non-violence against women, in favor of equal rights. In other words, you have an impressive career as a musician, but at the same time, you have an immense job in favor of human beings. Please I would like you to comment on this experience?
MR - Yes I got lucky to play with The Swedish National Symphony Orchestra. We did eighteen concerts plus I recorded one of my solo albums with this Orchestra / Past Future. I also played thirteen concerts with The Royal Phil Harmonic Orchestra in Stockholm plus some more places. To play with such fine musicians and highly trained musicians was very inspiring. Yes, you must not forget that I myself started playing in the garage without any music education. What I can, I have learned during the journey.
About Violence, yes I’m a faithful defender of the fight for non-violence against women. If you can’t love the woman you have your right to leave, but a gentleman never uses violence against a woman. Nothing more to say about that! I'm also all kinds of violence I’m against, that’s a low way to converse. That’s my point of view.
War is hell, that’s the worse side of humanity. But in this world, we are all different, and some people belong more to the self-destructive side others are more for the light, understanding, and Love. If you are wondering who you are, then look at your choices in life. We all have different starting points and from there we make our choices that also show who we really are, and what we can work with to become a better person.
MiM - What can you tell me about the new Autumn's Child album titled “Zenit” (Pride & Joy Music, 2022)? What are the plans for this year?
MR - This is a great band I must say. My friend the singer Mikael Erlandsson who is a very talented musician and singer has made eighteen albums with his band Autumns Child. This last album he asked me about I wanted to be a band member while we were recording the record. We actually grew up on the same street when we were young. But not until 2021 did we decide to play together when I accepted the offer. I'm really looking forward to starting touring with the band. I think Japan is close at hand as the band is popular there. The album I am on has received top reviews in many places, which gives hope. Very good musicians in the band, I can’t wait to start to play live with them.
MiM - Tell me about the constellations project where you play with rock, funk, polka, blues, and pop musicians? You have a wide repertoire where you are able to play any genre. Impressive! Talk to me about how do you do it?
MR - Let me start like this: my way of thinking is that music is music, tones are tones rhythms are rhythms, harmonies are harmonies. These are your tools. Then the most important thing of all is your passion for music. A tone is always the same no matter what style of music you play. The differences are rhythms and harmonies. If you take it down to this level, it is not so risky to dare to play other styles.
I try different styles just because I think it's fun. There is no one forcing me to do this, only my own passion. There is so much to learn, and also to feel in body and soul with the different styles of music. I really do not do this to be better than anyone else, I just think it's exciting and fun. The music also has different messages, which makes the differences bigger or smaller.
MiM - One of your sides that most impress me is that of a lecturer. Where did you talk to people about how to face life? How did the idea come about? Any story you could tell me about this noble idea?
MR - Thank you for seeing and appreciating this. This is not something I thought anyone cared about.
My lecture is about: To dare to be brave. Dreams visions and faith in the future. This gives hope and your hope is everything. It is about stimulating people to dare to take their lives and interests seriously. Everyone can do many times much more than they think. To dare to realize that you yourself are beautiful if your soul smiles.
With each passing year, I just feel less and less special. Yes, one day I am no one at all and then I leave this world. I am only my passion and my choices in life, nothing else. Of course, I hope and love to play for other people. To meet and see the difference or similarities between each other. To try not to spread hatred and fight with the love of mother earth and all life where you are also included.
MiM - With Magnus Rosen Band the album “The World and Times” should come out. When will it be available? How was the process of writing the music? What plans do you have to promote it? Tell me about the luxury guests that this phonogram has?
MR - Thanks for asking about M.R.B - Magnus Rosén Band. This is the first Rock music album I do in my name. Rock music is my roots that can no one changes. All started from a tour with Shadowside I did in Brazil. These days in Brazil I stayed in Fabio Buitvida's home in San Paulo. We had had a beer in the evening and talked about it being fun to play more with each other. We are band friends in Shadowside, but there we only do tours once in a while. Fabio said: “my friend Magnus my home is your home, my studio is your studio”. Fabio's hospitality opened the door for M.R.B.
We started recording the album the next day. The next day I went home to the north. Raphael who is the guitarist in Shadowside is on right away. There we had the basic trio for the band. We have done several tours together and I know that Fabio and Raphael are wonderful people to tour with. They never complain but see the possibilities and the pleasure in things. Dani Nolen is the singer in Shadowside and also a wonderful person. I could start a new band with the same members. So it was Fabio and Raphael who joined this band.
When I came to Sweden, I started thinking about some guests and a few more members for a complete band. We sent song ideas all over the world and today we have a full album, there are only a few song tracks left.

Right now we are looking for the right recording label to join this adventure. My dream is to start touring with M.R.B.
It looks like it will be seventeen songs. Seven new songs, five tributes to other band artists who have meant a lot to me through life. There is also a Tribute to Hammerfall that has provided a fantastic platform to work from. Also five bonus Tracks outside the Rockbox. This is going to be a firework of music I promise. I hope I can release it in 2022.
MiM - Tour project or concerts this year?
MR - With this pandemic, it’s hard to say, but I really hope the world will open soon and I also hope that we learn something from this. Last year we had a small opening in Sweden, so I played for older people at retirement homes. They were so happy to get some music, I also played at smaller clubs with my friends, plus some lectures. Bet let's see when it comes to 2022. So far two album releases with Tony Martin and Autumns Child, it’s a good start. And hopefully a release with M.R.B.
