La banda estadounidense de Metal Alternativo Dead By Wednesday lanzó su nuevo álbum 'Capital Conspiracy' el pasado 24 de junio. Made in Metal conversa con su vocalista Esteban Álvarez para conocer los detalles de este álbum.

MiM: ¡Hola Esteban! ¿Cómo estás? Gracias por aceptar chatear con Made in Metal.

DBW: Gracias por recibirme. Es una bendición y un honor.

MiM: A pesar del confinamiento por la pandemia Dead By Wednesday ha estado activo, presentándose en conciertos y promocionando su música a través del lanzamiento de varios sencillos. Cuéntame, ¿en qué has estado trabajando en estos primeros seis meses del año?

DBW: Nos hemos centrado en lanzar nuestro nuevo álbum, 'Capital Conspiracy'. Con las restricciones terminando, realmente queríamos sacar nuestro álbum y comenzar a hacer giras tan pronto como pudiéramos.

MiM: ¿En qué estudio de grabación se llevó a cabo y quién fue su productor?

DBW: El álbum está completo y lanzado. Nos llevó un total de dos años completarlo. Afortunadamente, la mayoría de nosotros tenemos la capacidad de grabar en casa. Entonces, durante la pandemia, una parte del álbum se grabó en nuestras propias casas. Después de eso, terminamos el resto con el productor Nicky Bellmore en los estudios de grabación Dexters Lab en Milford, CT.

MiM: Este es tu primer trabajo de estudio con la banda. ¿Cómo os sentisteis y qué esperáis de este álbum?

DBW: Es un honor estar aquí con estos muchachos. La alineación está formada por profesionales. Estar con ellos me ha ayudado mucho en mi crecimiento musical.

MiM: Sé que la banda tenía un contrato con EMP/Combat Records. ¿Todavía están en el sello? ¿Qué beneficios ha supuesto para la banda pertenecer a Combat Records?

DBW: Ya no estamos en EMP/Combat porque acabamos de asociarnos con "Salt or the Earth Records" y "MindSnap". Nos encanta trabajar con las etiquetas. Nos ayuda a llevar nuestra música a la gente.

MiM: Cuando te hablé de la posibilidad de entrevistarte para hablar de este nuevo álbum, me hablaste del contenido "Este álbum es una emoción cruda en estado puro" ¿Cuéntame sobre eso?

DBW: Este álbum realmente abarca el espíritu de la vieja escuela de Dead By Wednesday. Desde ritmos rítmicos contundentes hasta combinaciones vocales melódicas, te hará moverte en todas las direcciones diferentes de principio a fin. La emoción de la pandemia brilla a través de la música.

MiM: Musicalmente, ¿cuáles dirías que son las diferencias y similitudes entre este álbum y el anterior?

DBW: En una palabra, ¡HEAVY! Decidimos golpearlo más duro y duro esta vez.

MiM: ¿Cómo es el proceso creativo de escribir música, es un proceso colectivo, o solo uno o quizás dos son los que componen en la banda?

DBW: Normalmente, Dave produce una idea para un riff y comenzamos a improvisar en la sala de práctica. Luego, a partir de ahí, comenzamos a moldearlo juntos y permitimos que ocurra una sesión de lluvia de ideas. Entonces, listo, ¡tenemos una canción! (risas)

MiM: Una vez que el disco esté disponible para todos los fans de la banda, ¿cuáles son vuestros planes para promocionarlo?

DBW: Estaremos de gira del 30 de julio al 15 de agosto en la gira "Generation Dead". Siendo encabezado por Generation Kill con el ex Exodus, Rob Dukes. También se habla de una gira europea en 2023. También tenemos un espectáculo en California para el "Wasteland Weekend".

The American Alternative Metal band Dead By Wednesday released its new album 'Capital Conspiracy' last June 24th. So Made in Metal talks with its vocalist Esteban Álvarez to find out the details of this album.

MiM: Hello Esteban! How are you? Thank you for agreeing to chat with Made in Metal.

DBW: Thank you for having me. It’s a blessing and honor.

MiM: Despite the confinement due to the pandemic, Dead By Wednesday has been active, performing in concerts and promoting their music through the release of several singles. Tell me in summary what have you been working on in these first six months of the year?

DBW: We’ve been focused on releasing our newest album, 'Capital Conspiracy'. With the restrictions winding down, we really wanted to get out our album and start touring as soon as we could.

MiM: In which recording studio did it take place and who was its producer?

DBW: The album is complete and released. It took us about a total of two years to complete. Luckily most of us have the ability to record at home. So, during the pandemic, a portion of the album was recorded in our own homes. After that, we finished up the rest with producer Nicky Bellmore at Dexters Lab recording studios in Milford, CT.

MiM: This is your first studio work with the band. How did you feel and what do you expect from this album?

DBW: It’s an honor to be here with these guys. The line-up is built of professionals. Being with them has really helped with my musical growth.

MiM: I know the band had a contract with EMP/Combat Records. Do they still have the seal? What benefits has belonging to Combat Records acquired for the band?

DBW: We are no longer on EMP/Combat as we have just partnered with “Salt of the Earth Records” and “MindSnap” music. We love working with the labels. It helps us get our music out to the people.

MiM: When I told you about the possibility of interviewing you to talk about this new album, you told me about the content "This album is a raw emotion in its purest form" Tell me about it.

DBW: This album really encompasses the old-school Dead By Wednesday spirit. From hard-hitting rhythmic grooves to melodic vocal combinations, it will have you moving in all different directions from start to finish. The emotion of the pandemic shines through the music.

MiM: Musically, what would you say are the differences and similarities between this album and the previous one?

DBW: In one word, HEAVY. We decided to hit it heavier and meaner this time around.

MiM: How is the creative process of writing music, is it a collective process, or only one or maybe two are the ones who compose in the band?

DBW: Normally Dave produces an idea for a riff and we begin jamming it out in the practice room. Then from there, we start molding it together and allow a brainstorming session to happen. Then, voila, we have a song! (laughs)

MiM: Once the album is available to all the fans of the band, what are your plans to promote it?

DBW: We will be on tour from July 30 - August 15 on “Generation Dead” tour. Being headlined by Generation Kill featuring former Exodus, Rob Dukes. There’s also talks of a European Tour in 2023. We also have a show in California for the “Wasteland Weekend”.
