"En el álbum porque hay esa sensación de energía real"
La banda de Hard Rock Iron Allies formada por los ex miembros de Accept Herman Frank y David Reece lanzará su álbum debut "Blood In Blood Out" el 21 de octubre a través del poderoso sello AFM Records. Made in Metal charla con David Reece, fundador y vocalista de la banda para saber todo sobre este lanzamiento.
MiM: Hola David.
DR: Hola Raúl, un placer conocerte y gracias por tomarte tu tiempo para dejarme charlar contigo y tus lectores.
MiM: “Blood In Blood Out” (AFM Records, 2022) es un disco que tiene todos los ingredientes para ser considerado uno de los más importantes lanzados este año. ¿Cómo surge la idea de formar la banda?
DR: De hecho, Herman me contactó en abril de 2021 para preguntarme si estaría interesado y ver si podíamos escribir canciones juntos y enviar algunas pistas y tan pronto como las escuché me inspiré de inmediato, así que en realidad escribí letras e ideas de melodías y grabé las primeras pistas y le envié mis ideas e inmediatamente respondió diciendo ¡GUAU! MiM: “Blood In Blood Out” es un álbum rápido, agudo, pesado, melódico y dinámico. Todo lo que un fanático del Heavy Metal necesita para amar un álbum. ¿Quién estaba a cargo de escribir?
DR: Herman y yo somos los escritores y líderes del grupo y teníamos una visión muy clara de lo que queríamos en las canciones y Herman es un gran guitarrista que hace que escribir letras y melodías sea fácil y realmente divertido, lo cual creo que es vital para presentando un disco que como dices tiene todos esos ingredientes.
MiM: El nombre del álbum es en mi opinión una declaración de principios de los integrantes de la banda. ¿Qué me puedes decir al respecto?
DR: Buena pregunta en realidad, a Herman se le ocurrió el nombre y para nosotros somos una mezcla de diferentes personas de diferentes países, yo soy estadounidense, Herman es alemán, al igual que Malte Frederik Burkert, Mike Pesin y Francesco Jovino son italianos, por lo que es una declaración. de músicos aliados que son todos aliados en el rock and roll.
MiM: ¿Cómo manejarás el tiempo entre la banda y tu carrera en solitario?

"The album feels of real energy"
MiM: Hello David.
DR: Hi Raul very nice to meet you and thank you for taking the time to let me chat with you and your readers.
MiM: “Blood In Blood Out” (AFM Records, 2022) is an album that has all the ingredients to be considered one of the most important releases this year. How did the idea of forming the band come about?
DR: Actually Herman reached out to me in April of 2021 asking if I would be interested in seeing if we could write songs together and sent a few tracks and as soon as I heard them I was inspired immediately so I actually wrote lyrics and my melody ideas and recorded the first tracks and sent my ideas back to him and he immediately replied saying WOW! So, we continued onward and I think around August of 2021 we had written the songs you hear on “Blood in Blood Out” so it happened amazingly fast.
MiM: How was it meeting Herman Frank?
DR: We both played in the same band at different times but actually never met, believe it or not, so after recording a few demos together he and his wife came to my home in Italy and wanted to be sure the chemistry was there personally and it was a great time together.
MiM: How was the process of recording the album?
DR: In March of 2022 we all met at Horus studios in Hannover Germany to record together as a group so all drums are real all bass is real and guitars and vocals are done like the old days altogether. Herman produced the record with Arne Neurand engineering and Dennis Ward mixing and mastering.
MiM: David, how do you manage to place the voice in different melodies? An amazing vocal register. How do you do it to keep your voice in perfect condition?
DR: Well firstly thank you for your kind words. I actually studied voice with a few teachers and learned proper singing also I stopped drinking alcohol four years ago which gave me a new sense of power and I sing nearly every day because the voice is a muscle and you must keep it active and also try and think positive as much as possible and stay on a healthy sleep pattern.
MiM: Is Iron Allies a consolidated band within the international metal scene?
DR: We are a band and not just a quick project I really think it shows on the album because there is that feel of real energy as opposed to the typical project-sounding songs we hear so much of lately so yes this is a group and we will tour.
MiM: “Blood In Blood Out” is a fast, sharp, heavy, melodic, and dynamic album. Everything a Heavy Metal fan needs to love an album. Who was in charge of writing?
DR: Herman and I are the writers and leaders of the group and we had a very clear vision of what we wanted in the songs and Herman is such a great guitarist it makes writing lyrics and melodies easy and actually fun which I think is vital to presenting an album that as you say has all of those ingredients.
MiM: The name of the album is in my opinion a declaration of principles of the members of the band. What can you tell me about it?
DR: Good question actually, Herman came up with the name and to us, we are a mix of different people from different countries I being American, Herman being German as are Malte Frederik Burkert and Mike Pesin and Francesco Jovino being Italian so it is a statement of Allied musicians who are all allies in rock and roll.
MiM: How will you manage the time between the band and your solo career?
DR: For me having a creative channel every day inspires me and the more I sit and try to create the more focused I am. As far as doing solo material I am writing songs now and hopefully, in 2023 I will release another solo record but right now I am really focused on Iron Allies.
MiM: Are there tour and concert plans to promote this album? When can they be seen in Spain?DR: As I always say, a real band tours, and to me, it is the true definition of a group when you share the music in a live setting. I as you know have played Spain many times and love your country and its people there is a huge metal fan base in Spain so let me say that we will tour Spain.
MiM: Finally, I wanted you to feel free to share a few words with your fans and our readers.
